First post of a new blog. A little scary. Like staring at a blank piece of paper waiting to be filled with words of wisdom. So here it is. My wife, S, and I are about to expand our family. We’ve thought about this for a long time and are both excited to be moms. We’ve just been waiting until we feel we’re in a good position both financially and mentally. We’ve both lived pretty nomadic lives until a recent move to northern California. Here we’re fortunate to be close to my wife’s family and gaining traction in our respective careers. It’s honestly the first time I’ve lived somewhere that didn’t feel temporary. After living on both coasts of the US, it feels good to start putting down roots and thinking long-term. I’m glad I moved around a lot and was able to live in some amazing cities in my 20’s and early 30s, but at 35, I’m ready to stay put for awhile.
We’re in the very early stages of baby planning and I’ve only recently started tracking my cycles. So far, everything seems normal. Of course I’m a little nervous because of my age. But my OB/GYN seems optimistic and is ready to give us a referral to our HMO’s fertility center at the beginning of the year. Hopefully, 2015 is the year of getting knocked up. Cheers to all on this crazy adventure with us!
